Description
Iler Creek Conservation Area, Rocks of Sharon trail. I don't believe that this is a native species, but found some distance from the nearest human habitation.

Description
Growing from a seep/crack at the base of a huge rock/cliff and in the grass/ground nearby. Plants visible from the nearest stretch of Bouquet Canyon Road.
Seemingly the only place I could find Berberis sp. growing in the general vicinity on this side of the rocks. Shows evidence of growing back from a burl after fire damage. Lots of young/new growth.
Coincidentally, the underside of the leaves looks very similar to that from Palmer's oak (Quercus palmeri). Both plants are similarly very spiky.

Description
North-facing cliffs above Whipple wash, volcanics. Restricted to bases of the most shaded cliffs here. ~350m.
Seems to be a new population.

Stunted/odd viscida? Possibly burled, blooming earlier clearly smaller-leaved like nearby nissenana, but unlike adjacent viscida; bark on twigs shaggy but older bark mostly smoother; lacking hairs of nissenana
