Tatarian Aster (Aster tataricus)

Observer

Description

Impressive plant with a single flower stalk, 3-4 feet tall, surrounded by a dense patch of large basal leaves with long winged petioles.
Thanks to Kate Kruesi for discovering this population and alerting me to it.
This is a non-native plant with invasive tendencies. Perhaps escaped from nearby cultivation?
