I'm German, currently living in Japan.
I like beautiful things like flowers and butterflies, but even "gross" critters like spiders sort of fascinate me, although just looking at (photos of) them for a while gives me goosebumps. Even as a tourist I tend to take lots of non-touristy photos of the natural environment. And next to catching these beauties on camera I always want to know what I caught. Without any clue what to look for, this sometimes gets fairly difficult until someone narrows it down. This is why I joined iNat. And if my contributions are of any help for other members or scientific research, that's even better.
