bushes occur sparsely, growing among mesquite on sand-clay high desert. I've posted photos of two plants that seem pretty much identical to me, except that one has seeds and also galls. I've ID'd these as Atriplex canescens, but possibly one is not. Anyhow, they were found in the same general vicinity. From what I have been able to find so far, the galls were made by Asphondylia gall midges (Family - Cecidomyiidae).
