Bluffs Park Galiano Checklist

This former "Mini-Bioblitz" project, based on a blitz that took place during the Active Pass Festival in April 2016, has been converted to an ongoing project to document the species present in Bluffs Park.

A BioBlitz is usually a 24-hour event, during which teams of scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to catalogue the biodiversity of an area. In this event we will explore Galiano’s beautiful Bluffs Park, trying to find and identify as many species of plants, mosses, fungi, lichens and animals as possible—in the space of only one-and-a-half hours! In addition to your curiosity, you are encouraged to bring along a camera, notebook, as well as your favourite field guide. Your observations will help confirm records of species known to occur in Galiano’s coastal bluffs and woodlands—and perhaps add new names to the list—providing more resolution to the map of the island’s biodiversity
