Recent update to the Ontario Butterfly Atlas

The Toronto Entomologists' Association has recently updated the Ontario Butterfly Atlas with a batch of 2016 observations. The Atlas now includes over 800 observations from iNaturalist.

The default version of the Atlas provides detailed observation information based on a 10km x 10km grid for the entire province. More detailed information and analytics are available by toggling to the advanced atlas. You can sort the observations by county, many provincial and municipal parks, and even NABA count circles. Detailed phenograms that show the observed seasons for each species are also available in this view.

Hi, David,

Could you add to the first paragraph of your comment something like this: To be included in the Ottawa Butterfly Atlas, a record needs as a minimum:

1) an observer's name, at least given to the coordinator, if not on each record
2) an accurately-described location
3) an accuracy which reflects the precision of your location description

Clearly, records with Accuracies in the thousands of meters, records totally lacking any accuracy at all, and records whose location is obscured, for whatever reason, will not be included.

Thanks, Ross
