Roemer's Spurge (Euphorbia roemeriana)Observer

New-to-me spurge! There are no iNat sightings of this species in Central Texas and not many east or north in its limited range, but it seems like the only one in Texas that fits. It has 5 green appendages, each with 2 horns. The terminal cyathium is surrounded by 4 bud like structures--maybe another level of stems? The inflorescence doesn't seem to have a leaf or bract underneath like other members of Subgenus Esula. I guess I have to go visit this patch again to see how it develops. Stem is red, leaves are petiolate, glabrous (smooth). elongated obovate in shape with smooth margins. I found several other plants that might be the same plant nearby but none had flowers.

This nest had been getting built up high in one of our cedar trees very close to the house. I have not seen any bird on it and I have not seen other birds go to the nest. Just wow! A small moth near a porch light. The markings weren't apparent to the naked eye (I almost didn't take a photo because: small, white, requiring max zoom). For a size comparison, the picture hanger rusting nearby in the wide shot is about 3/4 inch long.

This photo was taken during daylight hours,but at a moderate depth.These shrimp can adopt much richer nocturnal colouring.Nor are they as rare as some references suggest,and 'uncommon' would fit my personal experience better.
