While kayaking on Elkhorn Slough this snake was first seen with head out of the water as if it was looking for a place to go. It then began swimming towards us in the kayaks and tried to board our boat. We didn’t get great views so we declined and paddled away, it swam the other way. Very neat for the kids to see!

Image 1 shows a complete (!) body print of a mature Lion. Tail is to the left; all 4 legs can be made out in foreground; lots of fur impressions at center and what appears to be a complete head print to the right, complete with ear prints. A couple of tracks appear at center as well. Yellow tape is open to 44 inches for scale. Images 2 and 3 detail the tracks and fur impressions. I had followed this cat for a pretty good distance before coming across this amazing scene.

I was amazed to find this Sierran Treefrog trying to make a meal of a juvenile Taricha.
When I flipped the log the newt was upside down and in the frog's mouth, but was soon let go. The frog's tongue stuck out for a few seconds afterwards, I'd like to think due to awesome tetrodotoxin.
