Found down a steep slope just east of the Manistee River. Multiple specimens were present.

In fruit from this season & previous seasons.
Hypopitys deserves rank to the genus level but iNaturalist doesn’t seem to be recognizing that yet. Here it should be Hypopitys monotropa.

Perennial herb to 20cm tall. Flowers white with a wooly pink calyx.Flowers about 15mm in diameter and tube 25-40mm long.
A rare species endemic to the Little Karroo.

I'd never seen any this pink before!

Ghost pipe in a scrub oak heathland! Never expected to see it here. Only ones I noticed along a long path

Many hundreds of flowers in roughly 50 clusters along 2 miles of trail. They emerged after days of heavy rain. Most are white, and this pink group was striking.

Found growing on steep slope, eroded. Infrequent population.

Rare; 1 plant found along edge of mowed trail in open meadow (Strong Acres Loop).

Ragged Fringed Orchid (Platanthera lacera). Frequently seen on the edges of the Gorman Nature Center old successional fields and tall grass prairies.

Found within ~ a half acre of 5 or so other occurrences of single or small groups of the same species.

A fly (Empis sp.?) pollinating C. maculata.
