Upright herb, branching at the base. hairy, flowers differ in shape and size and plants flower at the END OF WINTER (August) in moribund and burnt rocky grassland, full sun. Leaves are erect or ascending and may differ from being roughly hairy to less so. In summer the plants grow taller and the leaves also become bigger as can be seen in the photo of the sterile plant. Several plants have been observed in mountainous areas from around 1200 to 1400m. However, it is likely that plants grow at lower altitudes as well.
