Apparently due to a bacterial infection, maybe from the Wooly Catkin Gall Wasps ovipositing holes?
Not sure if there's a characteristic bacteria species that causes this.

very faint, (noisy audio) seem to originate from cattail marsh were a bittern was also heard (not the Red winged blackbird call)

• sometimes called the 'wicka dance', or a 'fencing duel'
