Not the one whorl of branches like in Cynodon dactylon.
Doesn’t look like the usual gamma grass found in this area
Not sure what else this could be, but would be a significant range extension.
Floating this ID as a text. Not listed as an introduced species in Texas yet but seems to fit the key that found for California

Walk in north meadow.
Made a solitary visit to CR 364 near the Sugarloaf Mountain Bridge to observe what was there. Had not visited the area in a long time.
I pulled the spear in the 2nd photo out of my sock.

I pulled this grass up thinking it was Dichanthium sericeum (silky bluestem) but noticed that it lacked the rings of white hairs around the nodes and the inflorescence looked more like a contracted panicle than a panicle of digitate spicate branches. The awns are distinctly bent. Is it really Bothriochloa barbinodis are is it just wishful thinking?
very hard to remove leaves from clothes.
This plant has been essentially unchanged for 10 days
First two pics show two species for comparative purposes.
Specimen on right: Note V-shaped base of flower, less dense branching, longer/narrower petals compared to Amphiachris (left; https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/34926032).
