I photographed this while it was laying an egg, or eggs, in this lacewing egg!! Very cool!
Love Love Love.
Possibly snail eggs? It did not look like the California Cone eggs I had seen in this spot 10 days earlier, https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/83383607, but maybe these here were just more developed?
On Scouler's Surfgrass. Possibly a Bryozoan? Or maybe eggs?
Recording of a single pre-dawn call. No dawn chorus was going on at this time.

I'm assuming this is some sort of wasp nest on a juniper berry? I couldn't locate any info on this but I didn't do any in-depth research yet

Little Surprise Canyon
Anza Borrego
Definitely the best photo I've taken of a fish underwater, albeit shallow
My first observation of the species, and one of the highlights of the month! But after seeing so many hand-held observations on iNat, I was surprised how big a Blainville's can be. This one was the size of a small toad.

Point Fermin
Definitely the best find of the day!
Caught and eaten by a Great Egret (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/66469028). The fish reminded me on https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/34306633, a Giant Kelp Fish.
Larvae in Tanaka Creek, tributary to Zayante Creek. high in the Santa Cruz Mts.
My husband took this picture, but only because he was on the correct side of the car to take it. I observed this bird as well. It was eating a kangaroo rat
Big surprise... As I was looking for lichens on the cliff here, I spotted two Soras down below at the pond.
Malibu Lagoon
This guy had washed up and a gull was nearby so he puffed himself up. I kept scaring the gull away and I think this guy was able to get back in the water as the tide was going up.
