First spotted by Dave Patton. Leptogaster (rather than Tipulogaster, based on comments here and here)?

L. obscuripes?

ID tentative.
Only able to get one angle before it scrammed. But I made another sighting (182278135) a few minutes later and close by; maybe the same fly?

I'm tentatively going with C. lyratus for the time being, but may change if more information becomes available. Scutum pattern, color of legs, and likelihood at this date all fit, but white mystax is a concern based on literature I've read.

There's a pinkish cast to the photo (from light reflecting from the pokeweed stalk, I think), but the color of the photo has not been manipulated.
