Actualmente esta especie se encuentra descrita bajo el nombre Castilleja racemosa (https://depts.washington.edu/phylo/OlmsteadPubs/Tank_et_al_2009.pdf).

NOTE: location is approximate, and the GPS coordinates are not precise. This is a very rare species and should be treated as such. It should be considered highly endangered, despite its entire range being within the designated Eagle Cap Wilderness area, global warming and the resultant climate change being an existential threat to its survival, which is likely dependent on sufficient, reliable, and well-timed snowmelt.

Trackers found this 5yrs old male puma at 12:30pm, we went and saw it lying in a bedding area inside a roadside trench. For 5 hours it slept and was out of sight. At 5:30pm, he woke up and took a slow stroll along the hill, stopping from time to time to groom itself, roll around, rub his face on multiple calafate bushes, make scrapes with his paws and peed. He then took a 90 degree turn, calmly crossed the concrete road between a crowd of 20 something people, and vanished among the tall grass and bushes. The trackers said a female was on the same route the day before, so he is likely responding to her scent marks and following where she went. Last two photos are his bed site.
