Small tree about 20 feet tall. Growing on gravelly bench above creek - edge of moist, riparian mixed confier/hardwoods with Abies grandis, Pseudotsuga, P. Ponderosa, Vaccinium, Alnus, Cornus sericea. Scarce but with some reproduction seen in a few other spots nearby, along 2 miles or so of FR-65. Possibly naturalized or a very small, disjunct population! This species isn't typically considered to be native to Eastern Oregon.
