Observation #5900 Preening female seemed completely unconcerned with having her photo taken. A tagged bird, I couldn't read the numbers on her right leg.
Somewhat unexpected…
Has the gold line and dots but I couldn't see the wings as the chrysalis was mostly black maybe due to disease or parasites?
Looks similar to these: https://thebutterflymusketeers.com/2018/02/21/the-butterfly-musketeers-chrysalides-information/
Very small, football 🏈 sized.
Another that has been confirmed through ebird with numerous reports; although no idea how it ended up in Vermont waters.
The provenance of this Great White Pelican has not been satisfied. It is an Old World species, having never been recorded in the U.S. before. This female Great White Pelican spent three days in February 2016 at Ding Darling NWR on Sanibel Island, Florida, creating quite a stir. When it flew off in the company of American White Pelicans, its never reported again. Until it returned the following February for just a day. So were did it come from and were did go.

The Hawk was balanced on an exposed branch at the top of a neighbors apple tree. Right next to it was an American Robin, see other photo.
Schoolhouse Pond, Prince George's Co., MD
On August 11, 2021, we were eating at home and this bird, House Sparrow, flew into the house and landed on the TV cabinet.
Always around 3pm we throw the leftover bread crumbs from the meal on the balcony and the same number of birds always come, this bird was not afraid of us and went inside the house. It did not get scared when we passed by and left when it wanted to.
This observation is for the larger insect in this photo.
Mega rarity for the Atlantic Ocean; observed with Atlantic Puffins just off Seal Island NWR. Presumed to be the same bird previously observed over the past two weeks at Petit Manan Island and Machias Seal Island further north.
Apparently the tiny bird bath is preferable to the large kiddie pool
Injured. Currently at rehabber.
Almost certainly an escapee. Took refuge in this cove for a week or so before surprising birders in a number of other locations in MD
Only known location for this species in Maryland at this time. Interestingly, location is close to previous nesting attempt locations. Building a nest on a power line stanchion at the power line cut on Mt Pleasant Road. Not established in the state yet, so active monitoring is ideal.

Someone thought this juvenile is a hybrid. I don’t know. Thoughts? More better pics here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S106265273

Found on the side of the road in an area with lots of trees nearby. I went to see if I could move it somewhere safer and it hopped off into the grass and hid under a bush.
