Perched on Ceanothus. Most of the bees foraging there were Andrena spp.
I suspect the association with Andrena is more important than Ceanothus, so that's what I put in the "Association" field.

This bright thick resin plug was filling up a hole in an outbuilding that used to carry a hose bib through a wall. The building is insulated with sheep’s wool. There were three globose nodules inside that can be seen. I have read of leafcutter bees and wonder if that might be what I have seen here.
What might the round nodules bee?

This ID assumes yellow band is on T3, if on T4 then B vandykei does not fit. This bee does have yellow hairs on posterior sternal segments but yellow on scutellum does not fit with B caliginosus.
