This is a beginning guide to Calgary's insect pollinators. The goal is to highlight some of the many insect pollinators you may encounter in the city and through participating in the Calgary Pollinator Count (see https://ucalgary.ca/sustainability/our-sustainable-campus/bee-campus/bee-citizen-scientist).
For this guide, we are including both pollinators (bees, flies, wasps, butterflies, moths) and accidental pollinators (dragonflies, grasshoppers) - the only criteria is that iNaturalist users have photographed the insect interacting with flower parts.
If you observe an insect pollinator, please contribute it to our Calgary Pollinators project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/calgary-pollinators
We welcome comments, corrections, suggestions, and especially additions! Thank you for helping us learn more about Calgary's insect pollinators!
