Duck prints?
Tracks and trails in damp sand. Coin 24mm diameter. Garden Wash. San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.
Speculating on the ID here. The toes appear much more slender than those of Great-horned Owl. Size appears to match this observation of Barred Owl feet:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/162574018
They appear similar in size to these confirmed (though very obscure) Barred Owl tracks:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/69318561
And track morphology appears to match these reported Barred Owl tracks:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/81068916
Washed out raccoon tracks. The hind track, on the right, shows details of the space between the heel pads. It is uncommon for this feature to be so prominent.
Observed the owl landing. Note that the toes are held in an anisodactyl (three forward, one back), not zygodactyl (two and two), arrangement.
claws appear to stretch to 8cm / 3 inches
Galloping track group with pronounced plates around tracks.
Hopping trail up a dry sandy slope. Direction of travel is from bottom to top.
