This one was unique. It had a white ring of feathers around its head. I've seen a robin like it before, I wonder if they're the same individual.

Striped Skunk (Mephitis mephitis)Observer

I was surprised to see an active skunk during the day. It was in a field foraging for food. I kept my distance, but when it saw me, the skunk lifted its tail up. That was my cue to leave.
A few days later, I saw another skunk in the same area. Again, it was awake during the day. They may have been the same skunk.

We were very surprised to find a dog out in the open. It had no collar and wasn't with anyone, in fact, it seemed cautious of people in general. The dog didn't appear to be neutered either.
"Was it a stray?" is what we were all thinking. Eventually, the dog wandered toward a nearby house and was greeted by its owner. It must've been their new pet.
Later on the trail, we saw the dog again being walked by its master. Mystery solved!

There was a big hole in its chest and its guts were strewn around it. Maybe a scavenger had gotten to it?
