The next morning we drove an hour from the hotel to Mantadia National Park, where we spent the day hiking around and birding. Our first new bird of the day was this Scaly Ground Roller, which we stalked for ages through the forest.
It looks very much like a Med conehead mantid but with the location it is out of range so I need the experts to help out on this

The neon blue that flashes when on the wing is captivating. It agreed to a couple of acceptable close ups during a brief game of hide and seek.
