These spiders were in beautiful webs all along the Cypress Trail. We saw many, many of them, although I couldn’t get my camera to focus on any in their webs that were moving in the breeze.

Tan Jumping Spider Platycryptus undatus

Date

April 20, 2021 03:11 PM EDT

Description

Decent size P. undatus. Was observing another smaller one when I saw this ones face sticking out of its crevice. They live around the entire proximity of my backshed in each panel of the sheds siding there a space where the groove between panels meets the roof of shed and they live under that space. It is a very dense population of estimate atleast 20 on my property, as there’s a clear little jumping spider nest in each of these grooves along the sides of the shed. (Photo 6 shows this crevice) I coaxed the spider out of the crevice with a long blade of grass.
