Something interesting is going at the base that looks like basidia.

Description

stilbella-like on rotten wood surrounded by an unidentified dematiaceous anamorph

Synnema, numerous pale tan-greenish, especially in the stipe, conidial mass is slimy and pale

Conidiophore branched, branch seem to mostly occurs right underneat a septum, and do not appear to be particularly penicilliate. conidiogenous cells seem to be very slightly inflated and without collarettes

Conidia hyaline aseptate smooth, cylindrial, about 2.7 - 3.3 x 1-1.3(1.5).

Remind me a lot of Dendrostilbella, but the Tubercularia-like conidiophora branching is confusing me somewhat

Description

on unidentified Trichiales slime mold

stipe covered by globose ornamented cells

conidia rather long cylindrical to +- oval, about 4 - 5.5 x 1.5 - 2.5

Conidia measurements do not seem to fit neither B. tomentosum or B. ovalisporum, at least using sutton (1973) concept for these species. but fit Bischoff et al (2003) concept for B. tomentosum

Note : Blistum is not found on Inaturalist, thus I have to name this name right now.

conidia difficult to interpret, because they were very small and scarce, appear to be globose 1.5 x 1.5 u.

The minute globose conidia seem to fit better with the species concept of B. tomentosum

Note : Blistum is not found on Inaturalist, thus I have to name this name right now.

Description

grown in moist chamber from decaying Acer saccharum bark collected from the location on the 26 October 2020.

N. patuxentica is the type species of the genus Neta, a genus which can be characterized by the arachnoid net of hyphae surrounding a mass of hyaline conidia produced from long denticle.

Colonies scattered, sporodochia-like no more than 0.5 mm in diam. Surrounded by a rather loose net of dark dichotomously branched hyphae. Conidiogenous cells with numerous denticle from which individual conidia are formed.

Conidia slightly allantoid, 1 septate, hyaline, smooth and measuring 10.5-12.5 x 2.5 - 3.5 µm.

I suspect that this might be our most common species of Neta. N. salmonicolor and N. compacta also have 1 septate conidia, but differ in conidial shape (dumbbell shaped in N. compacta and ellipsoid in N. salmonicolor). N. lignicola, another local species can be distinguished by its aseptate conidia which are less than 10 µm in length. N. lignicola also seem to be a bit different in macromorphology by its much less conspicuous net.

Description

on a piece of rotten wood in very wet (normally submerged) habitat.

Several individuals, superficially resembling miniature Lasiosphaeria ovina. Sporodochia pale gray, less than 0.5mm in width, scattered, conidial mass surrounded by an arachnoid net of small thin, dichotomously branched pale to brown hyphae. Conidiogenous cells containing many relatively long denticle, often in quick succession on the conidiogenous cell. Conidiogenous cells are hyaline

Conidia are aseptate, smooth, without appendages or visible sheets, somewhat allantoid and hyaline, they measure 6.5 - 9.5 X 2-2.5 µm.

Because of the arachnoid net surrounding the conidial mass and the conidia that are produced on denticles, the genus neta is the likely. Amongst the species, N. lignicola is easily reached using Castañeda and Heredia key (Mycotaxon 76: 132). N. tropicalis is also similar but have much more allantoid conidia.

also compare with N. patuxentica as seen here : https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/94171469
