Reasons for suggesting this species are below, including locations being within the range of an isolated population in far north Queensland.
I often sight birds of this species (adults and juveniles) within the Atherton Tablelands at several properties bordering the Herberton Range National Park not far from Mount Hypipamee National Park, in the Wet Tropics WOrld Heritage Area of far north Queensland. Also as occasional sighting on the outskirts of Atherton.
In early July 2021 I saw my only sighting of a nomadic winter group - about 30 - in open grassed woodland on one of these properties for about 5 days - 3 males, the rest females and juveniles. Very special!
