15 mm
Crambid Moth - Palpita arsaltealis (Hodges 5222, wingspan 20 mm)
Location: Durham NC USA
"forewing light grayish-brown with heavy dark speckling; irregular dark patches in median and basal areas; hindwing similar but lacks large dark patches" (BugGuide)
Summer form of Palpita freemanalis (Hodges 5225) is similar. Dark markings are typically "fuscous" (brownish gray). These appear to be gray and not brownish. I would appreciate correction or confirmation.
