Found this guy under a metal sheet by a small Coast Live Oak in Coyote Creek Parkway.
The previous day there was a second Dusky-footed Rat and a large Gopher Snake under the same sheet. But it was pouring rain that day, and I didn't want to get the camera wet, so that's why there is no observation submitted for them.
Strangely, there was no nest that these rats usually make. (I've seen quite a few of them in Coyote Creek Parkway.) Possibly it was up in the tree.
The rat eventually ran away, presumably up the oak but I didn't see. I returned the metal sheet to its place and hopefully the rat will return to it.
