Pair flying to roost
I discovered this nest near the Swan Plants in my garden and destroyed it by clapping my hands hard over it. I brought it up to the house and photograped it there.
I see these little birds often but they are so active that it is almost impossible to get a still photograph of them. This one I observed from the deck in the bush below and I was able to get photos from a distance.
I am monitoring what is happening in the area outside my bedroom where there is a patch of dense Swan Plant seedlings, and now contains a significant number of fifth instar caterpillars. They are starting to crawl away and finding places to hang.
The butterflies are still laying eggs and the Asian Paper Wasps are still patrolling the area, but they are leaving the large caterpillars alone.
Some of the Swan Plants in my garden are infected with these aphids though most are free of them.
Spider using passion vine hopper as cover on a cabbage tree leaf. Looking to identify the spider if possible
Found on my catnip plant in my New Lynn garden.
Found on a towel hanging on a backyard clothesline in Ostend, Waiheke Island. Perhaps freshly emerged from cacoon as one wing not fully formed and vibrating.
