Too Hot to Spot.

Firstly I'd like to remind everyone that it is vitally important to have water in out gardens in hot weather. With areas of my garden getting to the high 20Cs I have been putting out shallow bowls full of pebbles for bees and other insects to drink from, the pebbles stop them drowning and the water evaporating too quickly.

With it way to hot to go on walks to my local green area I'm taking the opportunity to take a closer look at some of the things in my back garden. Even trying to catch them with a macro lens is exhausting but the light is amazing for close up images of some of the smaller mini monsters that lurk in the recesses of my garden.

Dead wildfowl at Boggart Hole Clough

A number of birds have been seen dead on the boating lake at Boggart Hole Clough, mainly Canada goose (Branta canadensis) ~ 8 and an unknown number of both Coot and Moorhen. The deaths have been reported but the cause is as of yet unknown. Tests for avian flu will be carried out on the dead birds but there is also speculation it could be down to a bloom of Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). Human action isn't thought to be the cause at this time.
