27 Sept/17

Fall is well entrenched now. There are few insects flying around (assume most of them have gone into whatever method of diapause they use). Migratory birds are moving through the bush. A lot of them are skittish, and very hard to photograph. I'm starting to see juncos (I still haven't managed to get a picture of one), which are often the first and the last migratory birds to move through here. Canada geese have been on the move as well, but they are sticking around on the river. Temperatures haven't yet gone below freezing - I think the lowest we have seen is around +3 C - so this time period is stretched out. Leaves are mostly changed now, but haven't dropped.
