On the iNaturalist leaderboards for December, three years running?

I had forgotten that last year and the year before in December I was on the worldwide leaderboards for the most observations and the most species in that month.

We are only halfway through December right now, but it looks as though I may make those leaderboards again this year.

https://www.inaturalist.org/people

Also it looks as though I will pass 100,000 observations in a few days time.

All good stuff.

Today is Dec 22nd, I am still on the December global leaderboards in the #4 position for both number of observations and number of species. Tomorrow I fly back to NYC and I will try to see if I can rack up some more observations there in the frozen north.

Today is Dec 24th, Christmas Eve, and I am #5 on the global December leaderboards for number of observations and for number of species. Hope I can stay on those boards during this last week of the month! Although it is already quite wintery here in NYC -- there was a little bit of snow early this morning!

Posted by susanhewitt over 2 years ago

Today, Christmas Day, at 5 pm, having lost my position this morning on the # of observations board, I went out very locally and made a lot of observations, of as many species as I could find.

So, as a result I am now back again at #5 on the number of observations leaderboard for December, and still at #5 for the number of species for this month.

Boxing Day, Dec 26th, this afternoon, after a productive outing to Carl Schurz Park, I am now #4 on the leaderboard for the number of species for this month, and I am still #5 on the board for the number of observations for this month.

Tuesday Dec 28th. Yesterday I went out into Central Park at 106th Street in the afternoon at 3:20 pm. I did pretty well and have added a bunch of photos to this journal post from 27th.

So now, this morning I am at #4 on both leaderboards. Only four days now until December is over.

This afternoon we went over to Central Park and walked around the Reservoir.

This morning, December 29th, I am 4th on those two global December leaderboards, with 706 species and 2,474 observations.

And I added a bunch of new photos from around the Reservoir on 28th, starting with the aspen sapling.

December 30th and I am still at #4 on both boards despite not having done a big nature outing for two days. It helps that I have been gradually going through all of my Sanibel observations from my 3-week trip, and I was able to add some IDs to those, including a few new things.

December 31st. Currently I am # 5 on the global leaderboard for total # of observations made in December 2021, and #4 on the global leaderboard for total # of species observed in December 2021.

I added a few more observations a few minutes ago, but I don't know when exactly the counting will stop.
