Nature walk in Chestnut Hill Reservoir and Latham, NY

My nature walk this week was around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. This was my second time walking around the reservoir, but there weren't very many vertebrate animals around the reservoir, possibly due to the cold weather. However, I was able to find a swan in the reservoir and some squirrels. I also included an observation of a duck I found in the Chestnut Hill Reservoir the last time I visited in September. I went home to Latham, New York this weekend, and I found some bony fishes in my brother's fish tank. My brother keeps many fishes in his fish tank and I realized that bony fishes are vertebrate animals. I am glad that I was able to collect observations of a wide selection of vertebrates, those ranging from bony fishes, birds to mammals.

Nature Walk in Crossings Park - October 14, 2019

I went home for fall break, and I took a walk in a park in my hometown of Albany, New York called the Crossings. The weather was warm compared to Boston, the temperature being about 70 degrees. There was very light wind. I walked with two of my high school friends, and it was very nice to talk to them while observing autumn leaves and other plants. I saw many different types of plants, from pine trees to milkweeds. There were even mosses on the ground in some dark places of the park. Many of the trees' leaves were turning red and yellow due to it being autumn. There weren't very many wild flowers to observe, and most of the flowers I saw around the park seemed to be planted by humans. There were a lot of people in the park taking walks, biking, and walking their dogs. Overall, this walk was a very calming and enjoyable experience.

Nature Walk Around Chestnut Hill Reservoir - September 15, 2019

I took a walk around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. It was sunny and fairly warm, about 78 degrees Fahrenheit, with light wind. There were many people jogging and riding their bikes around the reservoir. There were also many people walking their dogs. Even though the reservoir is manmade, there were a lot of wild plants around and near the reservoir that did not appear to be landscaped or planted by humans. There were also a lot of animals swimming in the reservoir, such as swans, geese, and ducks. Some geese were outside of the reservoir, walking in the grass next to the walking trail. I even saw some turtles laying on the rocks inside the reservoir. There were many wild plants in the grass around the reservoir, as well as the grass next to the walking trail. This nature walk was a good experience, because I got to see a lot of birds and other animals in the reservoir that I normally do not get to see.
