Leather Mudweed on Oahu is mainly found in Maunalua Bay. This observation was made in Ewa Beach.
A. amadelpha is often found on sandy bottoms, outcompeting sea grasses that feed turtles and other marine species.
What
Genus EucheumaObserver
aquaticinvasives808Description
Although the Eucheuma algae is not as prevalent as it once was, it is still present in Kaneohe Bay. The Aquatic Invasive Species Team is still active in monitoring the Bay for invasive algae. The bulk of invasive algae was removed via trash pumps aboard the "Super Sucker" barge. We currently outplant aquacultured native sea urchins to graze on the invasive algae.
