Infrequent; Sparganium mixed emergent marsh and pond margins.

This specimen lacks the more elongate inflorescence typical of the species, so it's not a particularly good representative photo (not to mention the botched focus!). Unfortunately, this was the only flower I could reach without sinking into muck-oblivion.

Description

A bioblitz at this property last year failed to turn up this species, though it had been reported to occur here. I was excited to find it in flower this year! I presume it was responding to increased light from ongoing invasive shrub removal projects. The flowers send their regards!

Rare; single plant under sparse tamarack canopy in sphagnum bog. This appeared to be a robust and especially floriferous specimen, at least in comparison to the plants I have observed at Cedar Bog in Champaign Co.
