Description

Single male chestnut weaver was present for approximately two weeks at the site, and attempted building a few nests. This was the first sighting of the bird at the locality. Subsequently many bird listers observed (twitched) the bird before it disappeared.

Flower dimensions: Perianths around 28mm
Basal swelling (across ovary) 80mm
Pedicels ~80mm
Bract ~60-70 mm

Wide range in flower colour, from pale flesh pink, to coral red.

Inflorescence mostly 50-100cm, a few around 120 cm.

In peak flower, and around 10% of plants already in fruit.
Plants appear solitary with no offsets observed.
