What
Amanita Mushrooms (Genus Amanita)Observer
chehalumcheDescription
Possibly A. aprica but due to the presence sparse warts on the caps (heavy rains in the preceding days likely washed most off) I think more likely the yellow form of A. muscaria, as the red form does occur and was beginning to fruit elsewhere in this forest, notably on the lower end in the SFB Morse Botanical Reserve. Many of these or very similar and well-chewed yellow to yellow-orange Amanitas were scattered about this young working Monterey Pine forest, most apparently infected with the same yellow parasitic fungus.

Common Milkcaps (Genus Lactarius)Observer
chehalumcheDescription
In young working Monterey Pine forest. Was focused on other goals so didn’t think to observe latex color or change if any, or taste etc. Seems too robust to be candy cap, which however was also fruiting in moderate abundance in this forest.
