In a road gutter, the water coming up through a broken pipe beneath the road. Algae growing in the water. Second photo is 400x magnification, which makes the longest axis about 25 microns.

Found in a lake, microscope sample taken from scrubbing rocks on the pond edge looking for diatoms. Lots of ducks in the area. Third photo is at 400x magnification.
