It's pretty cold here. But these plants are growing over the potato beds. And they're not killed off by the sub-freezing evening temperatures. So cold that the air temperature right now is 40° Fahrenheit but the snow on the ground is crunchy.

I do not know what this tree is but there used to be a willow here. And it got eaten by some animal. And this looks like it's been gnawed. have also heard that while beavers like willow their eating willow actually results in more willows growing. And there are four of these things now growing.
