What
Grey Fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus)Observer
katepetersDescription
Found this Gray Fox laying under a willow bush. I think it had only been dead, at the most, for 6 hours. Eyes had just started to cloud, and rigor was not fully set in. The yellow jackets were starting to eat at the mouth. Only injury that I could definitely conclude was a snapped left humerus. No external injury noted.

What
European Starling (Sturnus vulgaris)Observer
katepetersDescription
Looked through the Bird Feathers guide (Scott/McFarland) and European starling is my best guess. The feather is iridescent blue/purple. Looking at pictures of the European starling, the little cream tip to the feather also fits.

What
Mammals (Class Mammalia)Observer
katepetersDescription
Not sure what kind of bone this is, or what kind of small mammals have chewed at the bone. I thought it was a neat find because it was nestled down into a hollow in the ground, and it was clear that it had been used as a chew source for quiet some time.

Striped Skunk (Mephitis mephitis)Observer
katepetersDescription
This little darling was eating at a dish put out for an outdoor cat. There were actually two skunks together, but the other one was behind the pillar when I took the picture. I wonder if they are both juveniles?
