Originally thought this was Flowering Dogwood (Corus florida). Now, it looks more like Carolina Allspice (Calycanthus floridus). I would think Carolina Allspice would be blooming, which this plant is not doing. So, I hope others can shed some light.
Growing on a moist slope adjacent to a bottomland swamp.

This audio observation is for the buzzing sound heard throughout the file. It's not for the American Crow or any other bird heard in the file. My thoughts are insects (possibly Cicadas) or amphibians. Note that Periodical Cicadas were observed on this same day in the same location.. There is also a pond and small stream within 75 yards of the sound recording.
