Red Pine (Pinus resinosa)Observer
kylegillDescription
Canopy trees are nearly all red pine with a couple of white pine. Dendroecological study indicates most of the canopy trees germinated between 1815-1824 and that nine surface fires burned through the understory between 1842-1908. Understory was mechanically cleared in 1984 and 2009 and is now dominated by paper birch and beaked hazel with groups of red maple, white pine, and mountain maple. FDn33 native plant community.
