Description

I went to check on the trillium today and the snow we had last night did not seem to bother it much. All melted away but bloom not opened yet. I tried to learn how to put my photos up here but I have made it work yet. I am not a computer user usually and it is not intuitive enough for me. I will keep trying.

What

Giant White Wakerobin (Trillium albidum)

Observer

lynnh55

Date

April 7, 2016

Description

This trillium was just forming buds. I will return to see if it has bloomed to confirm bloom color. I believe it is Trillium chloropetulatum from Pacific States Fieldguide, Peterson but the purple mottling on the leaves is almost absent. The bud is directly above the oval leaves, it is not on a pedicel. It is located At the Taylor Creek Visitor Center off the Rainbow trail North and West of the stream profile chamber. Possibly cultivated there in the 1860-1900's? Wild?
