I hope that I have this correct... the rear portion of the thorax looks rather thick and I can't find anything that looks similar. A singular individual found in rotting wood on forest floor...

Here are pics of 3 individuals of a small flock of nine Fish Crow along Beach Boulevard in Hamilton. They eventually started to vocalize just before a calling American Crow came in to chase them off.

There was a big movement of blackbirds today. We watched the male catch 2 Red-winged Blackbirds in the 15 minutes that we watched. It appeared to stash the first one on one of the towers at the lift bridge and then went back to hunting...

This gull was having a bit of fun with what looks like the head of a White-winged Scoter. It would drop it and then retrieve it again. This happened 3 times until the local Peregrine flew in and put a stop to it... (PERGs, they really do be like that sometimes).

Yellow Stoneroot Borer Moth Papaipema astuta

Observer

Description

Wilson Tract, Norfolk County, ON
This observation was previously looked at by an expert and the result was inconclusive as to its identity. I don't expect that it will be verified on iNat, but thought I'd put it out there to see if there are any thoughts as to what it might be. I think that Yellow Stoneroot Borer is the best fit.
It seems that most images of P. astuta online have a single PM line that is straight. However, note that in the specimen from BOLD (link below), the PM line curves abruptly towards the base at the paler apical spots and the PM line is clearly double. The individual that Dave Beadle and I found is very similar in that regard. It seems that these features are rather plastic. There are also similar examples to ours on BugGuide and MPG. It has been recorded directly south of Long Point in the US and the foodplant is common in the area. There are species in the US that look similar but are well south of us.
It was a bit larger than P. impecuniosa, so small for a borer moth.
