Sheathed Woodtuft (Kuehneromyces mutabilis)Observer
millenialmycesDescription
Still can’t quite tell if this is Galerina marginata or Kuehneromyces mutabilis. Spores are smooth and broadly eliipsoidal and brown (pictures with a 100x objective). The stump they were growing on looked a bit like a Spruce; however there was also a coppiced willow growing out of it, so I am not completely sure on the deadwood. Margins are dark compared on this one compared to what is typical of the Funeral Bell, but I’m not sure if that’s really a distinguishing feature. I suspect it’s K. mutabilis and even more so since it’s the spring and I haven’t really seen G. marginata growing gregariously before.

I am pretty sure they were growing out of Sycamore branches but I could be mistaken. Micrometer not to scale, magnification at 400 and 100x with 0.01% tuloidine blue.
