Additional details:
My wife and I were hiking in Temescal Canyon in Temescal Gateway Park above Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades , on the path that leads toward the waterfall yesterday, October 13, at about 12;30 PM about 3/4 miles north of the park entrance. We saw a Western Gray Squirrel. It was on the ground by the stream (which is intermittent currently) in a very wooded area, and then it jumped up on tree limb and scampered away. We didn’t get a photo, but I am sure it was a Western Grey Squirrel because we have the Eastern Grey Squirrels around our house and this was definitely a different squirrel. It had a very large, bushy, grey tail. It looked very healthy. It appeared almost blue-grey.

I have found one of these little guys under the sink in bathroom here in Phoenix AZ. I let it go in the plants outside after the sun went down. This is the second one the first one dried up and died in a few hours. It is extremely hot here in AZ right now.
