Olympic Grasshopper (Nisquallia olympica)

Observer

Date

August 3, 2018 01:31 PM PDT

Description

On the Grand Ridge way trail, climbing towards Moose Peak to the east. Observed ten or more of these flightless grasshoppers in this general area. All on bare ground, gravel and talus similar to these 2 pictures. Based on habitat and similarity to the few images I can find of the "Olympic grasshooper" I'm suggesting this ID.
