I'm a retired visual arts and media professor from the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech. I live in Blacksburg, VA.

Most of the art I make connects in one way or another with natural history. For several years I've been working on a gallery installation and performance project about salt marsh called Salt Marsh Suite. It's based on field observation and data collection in North Carolina, at Bird Island and Blaine Creek, behind Sunset Beach in Brunswick County. The movements of the Suite are: Tides, Water, Mud, Crabs, Birds, and Grass.

I did a gallery installation about Charles Darwin called Singing Darwin, which included "singing" the entire Origin of Species aloud over a 24 hour period on the 150 publication anniversary of OS. The installation included lots of imagery and sound collected from sites in the US, Ecuador, Galapagos, and the UK.

I really, really, really love natural history. I like to take pictures, record sounds, and figure out DIY ways of collecting interesting data.
