I’m an ecologist (The University of Melbourne) currently living in Perth, Western Australia.
I mainly study the behaviour of nocturnal animals, but for the past 12 or so months I have been heavily engaged in studying and protecting the Southwestern Snake-necked turtle. I’m currently composing a map of all wetlands the species inhabits, which is a year-long project. In doing this I have so far observed high nocturnal activity in areas of higher urbanisation, and multiple observations of pack-feeding on a European carp corpse (in different locations), each a potential adaptation to their often over-urbanised habitats.
