My interests include animal behavior, environmental education, conservation, climate change, science communication, nutrition, and dietary traditions. I studied the nutrition and behavioral ecology of female western lowland gorillas (Gorilla gorilla) in central Africa for my Ph.D.

I recently returned from teaching an exciting undergraduate field ecology course in Iceland! My students and I camped/hiked all over Iceland for six weeks. Along the way, I enjoyed getting to know the local flora, fauna, and people.

In my spare time, I enjoy nature walks, hiking, yoga, photography, learning to ID native plants, and singing! In my past life, I taught ecology, climate change, and marine sciences to gifted and talented middle school students at Talcott Mountain Science Center and Academy and St. Mary's School.
