Growing up in many places, I developed a love of natural history and traveling. My interests in mollusks, particularly land snails, led me to a career as a Collections Manager/Biologist at large mollusk collections both at Field Museum in Chicago and for the past 20 years, Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville. Mollusks especially terrestrial and freshwater species are the most endangered of all animal groups and unlike some of the more traditionally charismatic groups we still know very little about these animals or even how many of them there are. I am interested in documenting the diversity of mollusks, the first step before they can be studied or conserved.
